The City Council Announces the Winners of the 10th Edition of the "Lyrical Letters of Santiago 2026" Literary Competition
The competition included the categories of short story, poetry, and eulogy.
The Santiago del Teide City Council announced the winners of the 10th edition of the "Lyrical Letters of Santiago 2026" Literary Competition last Saturday, July 25, coinciding with the celebration of St. James the Apostle, Patron Saint of the municipality.
In the "Short Story" category, the first prize, worth 300 euros, went to Héctor Anaya Martínez for his work "The Name of the Terraces." The second prize, worth 150 euros, was awarded to Rocío Mesa Estévez for her work "Where the Color of the Sea Changes," and finally, Reyes Tamara García Concepción won the Special Prize—worth 200 euros—for her work "The Strength of the Broom."
Regarding the “Poetry” category, the prizes were as follows: the first prize, worth €300, went to Ana Guacimara Hernández Martín for her work “La Retama” (The Broom). The second prize, worth €150, went to Darian de Vroom Bethencourt for his work entitled “Música interior” (Inner Music). The Special Prize, worth €200, went to Ana Naira Gorrín Navarro for her work “Almendro de Fuego, Flor de Esperanza” (Almond Tree of Fire, Flower of Hope).
Finally, in the “LOA” (Oratorical Song) category, the first prize, worth €300, went to Sergio Capitán Herráiz for his work “Loa a la luz que quedan” (Ode to the Light That Remains). The second prize, worth €150, went to Elena Bethencourt Rodríguez for her work “Loa a la Virgen del Rosario” (Ode to Our Lady of the Rosary). Lastly, the Special Prize, worth €200, went to Angela María Cairós Gorrín for her work “Tierra de Almendros y Fuego” (Land of Almond Trees and Fire).
