The company responsible for the maintenance of municipal beaches presents its 2025 annual report
West Coast Rescue S.L., the company responsible for the safety and maintenance of municipal beaches, reports in its annual report that a total of 208 medical assistance incidents were recorded in 2025. Of these, 185 did not require transport to a medical facility, while 23 required the transfer of those affected to health centers. The majority of those requiring assistance were in the 26-35 age group, as well as the 18-20 age group. Women (108 incidents) and men (100 incidents) were the most frequent users of the assistance.
Regarding the data in the aforementioned report, it is worth noting that 141 aquatic interventions were carried out, of which 135 were resolved on-site and only three required evacuation to a medical center. The main causes of these incidents were waves and currents. Of these interventions, 52 involved people over 60 years of age, with 80 women and 61 men affected.
The report emphasizes that the preventative measures, the public awareness campaigns on aquatic risks carried out by the city council and the company itself, as well as the implementation of a much more efficient incident log that digitizes all incidents in real time, are proving effective in prevention.
