Santiago de Letras Festival twins with the Encamiño Festival in Galicia and strengthens its ties with national literature
A delegation from the Tenerife festival traveled to Miño (A Coruña) to participate in an institutional event with Galician authorities and celebrate the union between the two events.
This week, the Santiago de Letras Festival took a firm step in its mission to build cultural bridges by participating in a twinning event with the Encamiño Cultural Festival, held in the Galician municipality of Miño, A Coruña. The ceremony, entitled "Atlantic Letters," took place last Saturday, July 19, on the fair's main stage, as part of a weekend that made Miño the literary capital of Galicia.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Miño, Manuel Vázquez Faraldo; the Councilor for Culture, Catalina Morado Fariña; and the cultural manager of the fair, Rober Cagiao; as well as the Canary Islands delegation composed of writers Ana Naira Gorrín and Ángela Navarro; and the production team of Atlántida Cultural, organizers of the Santiago de Letras Festival: Emilia Vié, Alfredo Zizzi, and Pedro de la Rosa.
During the event, the importance of forging links between festivals with a shared literary sensibility and social vocation was emphasized. "Being united with an event like Encamiño, in an environment as committed to culture as Galicia, is a gift and a compass for us," emphasized Emilia Vié, director of the Tenerife festival, who emphasized the intention of establishing a literary and emotional dialogue between Atlantic territories.
The union will not be limited to words: in September, several authors and representatives from Encamiño will travel to Tenerife to participate in the first edition of Santiago de Letras, which will be held on September 13 and 14 in Santiago del Teide, thus consolidating this partnership as a literary alliance in motion.
This first meeting marks a symbolic and ambitious beginning for Santiago de Letras, which was founded with the aim of becoming a reference space for literature in the Canary Islands and a hub for connecting with other voices and geographies on the national scene.
