Mayor Emilio Navarro accompanied by the Councillor for Works, Alexandra León and the manager of Entemanser, Pedro Antonio Gómez supervised the works in execution by Entemanser, a company in charge of the management of the municipal water service of the municipality, for the improvement and waterproofing of the drinking water supply tank of San Francisco in Los Gigantes for which the city council has allocated €100,000.

The tank has a storage capacity of 4,320 m3, distributed in two glasses and receives desalinated water from the regional desalination plant EDAM Oeste located in Fonsalía. From it, water is destined for the lower part of the population centre of Los Gigantes. With this action, the extension of the useful life of this infrastructure is guaranteed, in addition to avoiding water losses and guaranteeing the supply of quality desalinated water to approximately 2,000 users of the municipality.

Emilio Navarro, mayor of Santiago del Teide, points out that "the execution of this type of action aimed at reducing water losses and promoting the supply of desalinated water to the coastal centres, are essential and show the great commitment of the municipality of Santiago del Teide and Entemanser to improve the water situation of the island."

For his part, Pedro Antonio Gómez Ayala, head of production of Entemanser, indicates that "this intervention consists of the laborious elimination by manual mechanical means of the incrustations accumulated in the vertical walls, as well as in its interior waterproofing with PVC sheet suitable for contact with water for human consumption. The improvement of the ventilation of the tank is also being carried out, as well as the sanitation of the slab of the tank that will allow it to extend its useful life."
