The municipality presents the events and events to commemorate Women's Day

 

Through it, the municipality will host numerous activities and events to commemorate the 8M

 

The City Council of Santiago del Teide organises a new edition of the campaign "Agents of Change. Gender Equality 2024," which integrates into its programming various events and activities that will take place on the occasion of the commemoration of International Women's Day, which is celebrated every March 8.

 

Thus, through the aforementioned initiative, the consistory intends to commemorate women's rights, the demand for the fight for gender equality, as well as the important role of women in history and our society.

 

In this sense, the programming will begin next Tuesday, March 5 with the activity "Feminaries: female references of the Canary Islands that will take place until March 8 at the IES Serafín Pardo de Tamaimo and aimed at students from 1º to 4º of ESO. On March 6 and 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Centre and in the Puerto de Santiago Library, a new edition of the wellness tables will be held with the theme 2 Menopause, what it is and why so little is spoken."

 

On Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Centre, the presentation of the book "Women of Fire and Lava: the Next Generation" will take place, which will have the musical performance of the Caracolas Group and the presentation of the song "De lava and fire".

 

On March 8, International Women's Day, at the IES Serafín Pardo de Tamaimo there will be a talk of the "Ecoalpispa" project given by Natalia Díaz, biologist, beekeeper and young entrepreneur awarded in 2020 with the National Young Entrepreneur Award of the Youth Institute that combines sustainable beekeeping with environmental awareness. From 9:00 a.m. in the Plaza de Santiago del Teide, Conscious Hiking experience that fuses the exploration of the environment with the sensations caused by nature. For this one that will be repeated on Friday, March 15, prior registration is required through the phone 922-86-31-27 ext 220. At 7:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Centre, the "Concepción García Suárez" awards are presented with the stellar performance of the singer Sole Giménez.

 

On March 10, from 1:00 p.m. at the Costa Los Gigantes Hotel, the Women's Day charity lunch organised by the Lions Club of Santiago del Teide will be held with the collaboration of the city council. Entrance fee: 10€. On March 13, 14 and 15, at the IES Serafín Pardo de Tamaimo, talks will be held on Gender Equality by Patricia Ojeda, an expert sociologist in gender. On March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Centre, the Burka Theatre company will stage the play "Crisfixión 2" while at 8:00 p.m. in the same place the company Ángulo Producciones will stage the play "Michelle, a very serious comedy".

 

For its part, from March 7 to 29 there will be a space in the municipal libraries for reading, reflection and to emphasise the importance of equality called "Rincón Violeta".

 

Finally, during the campaign in the municipal libraries there will be an exhibition entitled "Woman and Life" based on the importance of women in the society of our municipality. The exhibition is composed of images and texts by authors from Santiago del Teide.
