The Mayor presents the first phase of the Social Employment Plan “Santiago del Teide Promotes Employment 2025-2026”
The program is being developed within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the Canary Islands Employment Service and FECAM, and is financed through the Canary Islands Comprehensive Employment Plan (PIEC 2025).
Mayor Emilio Navarro, along with the councilors for Employment, Germán Jiménez, and Human Resources, Gesabel Dorta, welcomed the first phase of the 2025-2026 Social Employment Plan, entitled “Santiago del Teide Promotes Employment 2025-2026,” this morning, Monday, February 23.
The program is being developed within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the Canary Islands Employment Service and FECAM, and is financed through the Canary Islands Comprehensive Employment Plan (PIEC 2025), with the aim of promoting employment through socially beneficial and general-interest initiatives.
Through this agreement, the city council has hired 26 unemployed residents of the municipality for the next six months (December-June).
These 26 employees are distributed among administrative staff, community outreach workers, home care assistants, a caretaker, agricultural laborers, an electrician, a plumber, bricklayers, and construction workers.
During the first few days of the agreement, the participants are undertaking a 40-hour training program that includes topics such as occupational risk prevention, gender equality, social skills, career guidance, and soft skills, among other aspects aimed at improving their employability and professional performance.
The social employment plan of Santiago del Teide 2025-2026, both for this first phase and for the next, has a total investment of €547,499.24, of which €289,914.21 is a municipal contribution and the rest, that is, €257,585.03, is a subsidy from the Canary Islands Employment Service.
