The mayor presents the second phase of the Social Employment Plan “Santiago del Teide Promotes Employment 2025-2026”
The program is being developed within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the Canary Islands Employment Service and FECAM, and is financed through the Canary Islands Comprehensive Employment Plan (PIEC 2025).
Mayor Emilio Navarro, along with the councilors for Employment, Germán Jiménez, Human Resources, Gesabel Dorta, and Social Services, Tania Cuadrado, welcomed the second phase of the 2025-2026 Social Employment Plan, entitled “Santiago del Teide Promotes Employment 2025-2026,” this morning, Tuesday, June 30.
The program is being developed within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the Canary Islands Employment Service and FECAM (Canary Islands Federation of Municipalities), and is financed through the Canary Islands Comprehensive Employment Plan (PIEC 2025), with the aim of promoting employment through socially beneficial and publicly beneficial initiatives.
Through this program, the city council has hired 24 unemployed residents of the municipality for the next six months (June-December).
These 24 employees are distributed among administrative staff, sociocultural facilitators, home care assistants, a caretaker, agricultural laborers, an electrician, a plumber, bricklayers, and construction laborers.
During the first few days of the agreement, the participants will undertake a 40-hour training course that includes topics such as occupational risk prevention, equal opportunities for men and women, social skills, career guidance, and soft skills, among other aspects aimed at improving their employability and professional performance.
The Santiago del Teide 2025-2026 social employment plan has a total investment of €547,499.24 for both the first phase already completed and the second phase currently underway, of which €289,914.21 is a municipal contribution and the remainder, €257,585.03, is a subsidy from the Canary Islands Employment Service.
