Santiago del Teide commemorated the 115th anniversary of Chinyero with the prayer of Santa Ana to El Calvario de Las Manchas

This took place last Saturday, November 16 to commemorate the events that occurred during the eruption of the Chinyero volcano in 1909

Last Saturday, November 16, the traditional rogative of the image of Santa Ana de Tamaimo was carried out before the lava flows of the Chinyero volcano, which this year turned 115 and which was the last eruption produced on the island of Tenerife.

Thus, in this commemoration that this year turned 115 years the entourage came out with the image carried on their shoulders by the shippers of Santa Ana from the parish of Tamaimo to Las Manchas (8 km on foot) where the images of the Virgen del Pilar and Santo Domingo de Guzmán were then joined and from there to the Calvary of Las Manchas place where the neighbours, at that time and afraid of being devastated by the lava, took the image of Santa Ana on foot from Tamaimo to the very flows of the volcano, which inexplicably interrupted Their way and they did not advance any further.

The aforementioned event, attended by Mayor Emilio Navarro, members of his government group and a large number of faithful, ended with the staging and subsequent mass in El Calvario de Las Manchas.
