Santiago del Teide achieves long-standing goal: improved water quality in the coastal area

The municipality begins supplying desalinated water after years of work and significant investments in water and electricity infrastructure

The Santiago del Teide City Council has completed one of the most important and long-awaited projects for residents of the municipality's coastal area: improving the quality of the water supply.

After many years of demands, administrative procedures, technical planning, and investments in water infrastructure, the municipality has finally secured the necessary electrical connection and supply from ENDESA to operate the new pressure booster pumps installed at the San Francisco and El Cruce reservoirs.

This action allows the supply of desalinated water to various coastal areas of the municipality to begin today, significantly improving the water quality received by hundreds of residents and businesses.

The completed works included the installation of pressure booster pumps, pumping systems, new suction and distribution pipes, as well as all the necessary infrastructure to ensure the proper functioning of the water system.

Thanks to this project, the following improvements have been achieved:

• Significantly improved drinking water quality

• Increased flow and pressure

• Enhanced service stability during peak demand periods

• Modernized infrastructure of strategic importance to the municipality.

The areas benefiting from this improvement include Los Gigantes, Lajas de Chapín, the Royal Cóndor and Eva buildings, and Mirador de Archipenque, among other areas along the coast.

The City Council emphasizes that this project represents “the culmination of years of continuous work, technical coordination, and investment to resolve a long-standing problem affecting water quality on the municipality's coast.”
