Santiago del Teide presents the events commemorating the 116th anniversary of the Chinyero volcano eruption

From November 16th to 21st, a variety of events will take place.

Santiago del Teide has presented the program of events for "Chinyero-116," which aims to commemorate the eruption of the aforementioned volcano—which turns 116 this year—with a detailed program of activities to be held from November 16th to 21st.

This program of activities surrounding Chinyero will begin on Sunday, November 16th, at 9:30 a.m. with a procession marking the 116th anniversary of the Chinyero eruption. The procession will depart from the Church of Santa Ana in Tamaimo with an image of the Virgin Mary to the Hermitage of Las Manchas, where the images of Saint Dominic and Our Lady of the Pillar will join.

From there, the procession will continue on the shoulders of bearers to the Calvary area of ​​Las Manchas, where Mass and a reenactment will be held.

On Tuesday, November 18th and Wednesday, November 19th, starting at 7:00 PM at the Tamaimo Community Center, awareness talks will be given by the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN).

On November 21st, starting at 8:00 PM at the Chinyero Visitor Center, the theatrical performance entitled “Mayelín Among Smoke and Secrets” will be presented by the Santiago del Teide Dance Workshops with live music performed by the Santiago del Teide School of Music.
