Santiago del Teide will create the world's longest turrón in December, measuring 1,100 meters.
More than 3,366 kg of locally sourced products will be used for this project, which would set a new Guinness World Record, with a special emphasis on almonds and honey from the municipality.
On December 13th, the municipality of Santiago del Teide will create the world's longest turrón using local products. The process will involve chefs and pastry chefs from Acyre Canarias and Madrid, local residents, visitors, and the general public.
This commercial activity is organized by the Santiago del Teide City Council in collaboration with the Association of Business Owners and Merchants of Santiago del Teide (ASEMTEIDE), Acyre Canarias, and Acyre Madrid.
The prelude to this milestone for Santiago del Teide, which would allow it to enter the Guinness World Records, took place last week at the Royal Post Office in Madrid. There, the municipality, represented by Mayor Emilio Navarro and Councilor for Commerce Germán Jiménez, presented a small sample of what they hope to achieve in December.
This commercial event will boost tourism promotion for our municipality as a gastronomic destination, as well as promote our local products such as honey and almonds.
Emilio Navarro points out that “with this initiative, we want to showcase Santiago del Teide as a benchmark for quality, sustainability, and flavor. We are committed to local products because we firmly believe in their potential, their ability to create opportunities, and their capacity to put our town on the map for reasons that fill us with pride. The World's Longest Turrón will be a celebration of talent, of collaboration between institutions, chefs, and producers, and above all, a tribute to our residents, who, through their daily work, keep our traditions alive. It is an example of how local products can inspire, unite, and transcend borders.”
