The municipality presents the campaign “Agents of Change. Gender Equality” to commemorate Women's Day

The Santiago del Teide City Council organizes a new edition of the “Agents of Change” campaign. Gender Equality 2024”, which integrates into its programming various events and activities that will be carried out to commemorate International Women's Day, which is celebrated every March 8.
Thus, through the aforementioned initiative, the council aims to commemorate women's rights, the demand for the fight for gender equality as well as the important role of women in history and our society.
In this sense, the programming will begin this coming Tuesday, March 5, with the activity “Feminarias: female references from the Canary Islands, which will take place until March 8 at the IES Serafín Pardo in Tamaimo and aimed at students from 1st to 4th of ESO . On March 6 and 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Center and the Puerto de Santiago Library, a new edition of the well-being tables will be held with the theme 2 Menopause, what is it? and why so little is talked about.” On Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Center Social of Tamaimo, the presentation of the book @Mujeres de fuego y lava: la gente seguinte2 will take place, which will have a musical performance by Grupo Caracolas and the presentation of the song “De lava y fuego”.
On March 8, International Women's Day, at the IES Serafín Pardo in Tamaimo there will be a talk on the “Ecoalpispa” project given by Natalia Díaz, biologist, beekeeper and young entrepreneur awarded in 2020 with the national Young Entrepreneur award from the Institute of Youth that combines sustainable beekeeping with environmental awareness. Starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Plaza de Santiago del Teide, experience Conscious Hiking that fuses the exploration of the environment with the sensations that nature provokes in us. At 7:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Center, the “Concepción García Suárez” awards ceremony will take place. which will feature the stellar performance of the singer Sole Giménez.
On March 10, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Hotel Costa Los Gigantes, the Women's Day charity lunch organized by the Santiago del Teide Lions Club will be held with the collaboration of the city council. Admission: €10. At 6:30 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Center, the María Mora Dance Company will stage the show “The Autumn Lady.”
On March 13, 14 and 15 at the IES Serafín Pardo in Tamaimo, talks on Gender Equality will be held by Patricia Ojeda, sociologist expert in gender. On March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Center the Burka Teatro company will stage the play “Crisfixión 2” while at 8:00 p.m. in the same place the Ángulo Producciones company will stage the play “Michelle, a very serious comedy.”
For its part, from March 7 to 29 there will be a space in municipal libraries for reading, reflection and to highlight the importance of equality called “Violet Corner.”
Finally, during the campaign in the municipal libraries there will be an exhibition titled “Woman and Life” based on the importance of women in the society of our municipality. The exhibition is made up of images and texts by authors from Santiago del Teide.
