The Mayor Presents the Program for the Crux25 Event to Celebrate the Day of the Cross
From April 28th to May 4th, the town of Tamaimo will feature an exhibition of decorated crosses, a tapas trail, a hiking trail, workshops, a dramatized tour, and more.
On Monday, April 21st, Mayor Emilio Navarro presented the program of activities included in the Crux25 event, which will take place in Tamaimo from April 28th to May 4th to celebrate the Day of the Cross.
The events will begin on Monday, April 28th, with a floral design and cross decoration workshop at the Tamaimo Social Center starting at 5:00 PM. Prior registration is required. Florist Andrés Alexander will teach the event. On Thursday, May 1, at 6:00 PM in the Plaza Santa Ana in Tamaimo, the exhibition of decorated crosses and creations from the different squares will be inaugurated, followed by a performance by singer Javier Linares.
On Friday, May 2, at 7:00 PM, the CruxArte Tamaimo: An Art Walk event will take place, a theatrical tour that runs through the squares where the temporary exhibition of crosses and works by local and island artists will take place. On Saturday, May 3rd, starting at 8:00 a.m., a hiking route led by the La Cruz Hiking Group will begin in the town square and climb to the Cruz de los Misioneros (Missionaries' Cross). Starting at 11:00 a.m., the designated jury will visit the participating crosses in the competition for decorated crosses on facades. At 6:00 p.m., the jury's decision will be read, awards will be presented, and a stellar performance by "La Trova" from Gran Canaria will be held.
The presentation of the program of events also served to introduce the tapas route for the Day of the Cross, which will feature six restaurants in the town of Tamaimo and will also run from April 28 to May 4.
