Santiago del Teide is presented in Fitur as the only destination in Europe certified in 14 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 agenda
Santiago del Teide reaffirms its commitment to sustainable tourism and the 2030 Agenda with its presence in a new edition of Fitur 2025 where it will be presented as the only destination in Spain and Europe certified in 14 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an achievement that places Santiago del Teide at the forefront of sustainability.
This was announced this morning, Friday, January 17, by Mayor Emilio Navarro, who, accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism, Luz Goretti Gorrín, have presented the new promotional tourist material of the municipality that is part of the campaign "Filling Objectives" with which Santiago del Teide will be promoted next week in one of the most important tourism fairs in the world such as Fitur.
The mayor of Santiago del Teide Emilio Navarro expressed "the pride and satisfaction that this milestone represents for the municipality. We have worked on a risky and ambitious strategy betting on real sustainability in the municipality. Today, we are here to show that we have met 14 of the 17 SDGs of the 2030 Agenda. This not only makes us a benchmark for sustainability in tourism, but also has its reflection in the economic impact it generates on the destination, being one of the municipalities of the Canary Islands in which there is greater tourist spending."
For her part, the Councillor for Tourism Luz Goretti Gorrín, highlighted that the campaign "Feelling Objectives" underlines Santiago del Teide's commitment to sustainability and the value of public-private collaboration. This campaign shows the certification in 14 SDGs, an achievement that we have achieved by working together with the professionals and companies that make up our municipal tourism sector, and thanks to the involvement of our neighbours; following the tourism positioning strategy that we have set for a few years, and that today is reflected in this very important recognition for the municipality."
Santiago del Teide continues to move forward with the support of its community and in constant collaboration with the private sector to promote the well-being and development of its inhabitants and visitors. With sustainability as its central axis, Santiago del Teide not only preserves its natural and cultural environment, but also projects the world as a responsible tourist destination, aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
