The city council is calling for grants for the renovation of privately owned homes within the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025.
The grants, whose application period is open until July 2, will allow for projects such as facade repairs and sewage connection, among other interventions.
The Santiago del Teide City Council is opening its call for grants for the renovation of privately owned homes in rural areas within the framework of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, for which it has allocated €318,547.83.
The purpose of this call is to provide aid to families who, meeting the requirements of the Regional Program to Combat Depopulation in Rural Areas of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, seek to ensure the rehabilitation or adaptation of private rural homes to minimum living conditions, energy efficiency, structure, and other necessary maintenance works, thus encouraging people to remain in or move to rural areas.
The specific housing requirements include:
1. Homes must generally be at least twenty years old at the date of application, except for type A.a) and/or A.b) projects in homes where people over 65 years of age or with functional diversity and reduced mobility reside. Likewise, works aimed at improving sanitation may be subsidized due to serious deficiencies in the dwelling that imply non-compliance with the Basic Document of the Technical Building Code (DB-HS) on health, which impede or hinder habitability by endangering the safety of individuals, even if the dwellings are not of the required age. This also applies to type A works in dwellings where the cohabitation unit is made up of a vulnerable group as defined in section 5.1 of this same line D.
2. It is prohibited to use the dwelling for tourist rentals or other uses other than permanent, habitual residence. Privately owned dwellings intended for long-term rental must be dedicated exclusively to that use for a minimum period of 10 years.
3. The dwelling may not remain unoccupied for more than 6 months per year.
