The mayor presents a motion to include the Tamaimo Health Center as a 24-hour Continuous Care Point
It would be an undoubted need and sanitary improvement for the municipality
The mayor Emilio Navarro presented a motion in the recently held regular plenary session to urge the Department of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands to equalize the distribution of services and resources with the promotion of the creation of the Tamaimo Health Center as a Point Continuous Service with operating hours from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on weekdays and 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
In this sense, it is pointed out that Santiago del Teide has nine nuclei distributed between the highlands, midlands and coastal areas, existing between them a notorious dispersion and a population, which at different times of the year, can reach up to 18,000 inhabitants. Floating population.
If we add to this the fact that in terms of the age pyramid, we are in the presence of a legal population nucleus that has a significant tendency to be over fifty years of age, which is in the area of greatest risk with respect to the and that the closest 24-hour health center to the center of Santiago del Teide is 25 minutes away by car and the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital is 110 kilometers away from the municipality, we understand that primary care is necessary special 24 hours a day.
In short, it is understood that the Tamaimo Health Center could cover the needs of the fixed and floating population, being a Continuing Care Point (PAC) functionally dependent on the Primary Care Managements providing medical assistance with staff from the own team and with operating hours from 20:00 to 08:00 on weekdays and 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
