The City Council Allocates €145,000 in Aid to Municipal Students for the 2025/2026 Academic Year
The Santiago del Teide City Council allocates €145,000 in aid to municipal students for the 2025/2026 academic year.
These aids are as follows:
Rental aid for municipal students enrolled in university and vocational training courses.
Study aid for post-compulsory education students.
Aid for the purchase of textbooks and/or school supplies for the 2025/2026 academic year for students enrolled in Early Childhood, Primary, and Compulsory Secondary Education.
Aid for families with children enrolled in preschools for the first cycle of early childhood education for children aged 0 to 3.
In this regard, the aid for the purchase of textbooks and school supplies that has already been delivered to beneficiary families has been allocated €15,000. Meanwhile, the study and rental aid that are still being processed have budget allocations of €80,000 and €40,000, respectively.
In addition, €10,000 has been allocated to families with children enrolled in the first cycle of early childhood education for children aged 0 to 3, both in public and private preschools in the municipality of Santiago del Teide or in other municipalities, as long as their parents or legal guardians are registered as residents of Santiago del Teide.
A practical example of this aid is for a student from the municipality who lives in an apartment in La Laguna or nearby and pursues university or vocational training studies. They can receive an individual grant of €650, which very few municipalities on the island of Tenerife and the Canary Islands with a population of less than 20,000 can boast of being able to provide.
All of these grants, in which the city council invests heavily, are ultimately motivated by facilitating access to education and covering the associated expenses for the students themselves and, above all, for their families.
