The City Council presents the program for the “Crux2026” event to celebrate the Day of the Cross

 

From April 27 to May 4, the town of Tamaimo will host an exhibition of decorated crosses, a tapas route, workshops, contests, a theatrical tour, and more. The Santiago del Teide City Council presented the program of activities included in the Crux2026 event, which will take place in the town of Tamaimo from April 27 to May 4 to celebrate the Day of the Cross.

 

The events will begin on Monday, April 27, and run until May 4, with the opening of the Tapas Route in Tamaimo, in which seven local establishments will participate.

 

Regarding the event itself, it will begin on Wednesday, April 29th, with the "Crux26" pastry workshop, led by chef Pablo Pastor. Prior registration is required, and the workshop will take place at the Tamaimo Community Center from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Thursday, April 30th, a floral design and cross decoration workshop will be held at the Tamaimo Community Center starting at 4:30 PM, led by florist Andrés Alexander. Both activities require prior registration by calling 922-86-31-27 ext. 300/305.

 

On Friday, May 1st, at 5:00 PM in Santa Ana Square in Tamaimo, the exhibition of decorated crosses and creations from various towns will be inaugurated. Following the inauguration, the group "Jóvenes del Norte" (Young People of the North), led by Álvaro Mnsito and Haridian León, will perform.

 

On Saturday, May 2nd, at 7:30 p.m., the event “CruxArte Tamaimo: An Art Walk” will take place. This theatrical tour will explore the squares where the ephemeral exhibition of crosses and compositions by local and island artists is being held. Prior registration is required by calling 922-86-31-27 ext. 300/305.

 

On Sunday, May 3rd, starting at 9:30 a.m., the appointed jury will visit the crosses participating in the competition for decorated crosses on facades. At 6:00 p.m., the jury's decision will be announced, and awards will be presented in Plaza Santa Ana. The event will also feature the musical performance “Herederos” with the participation of Héctor González, Pedro Manuel Afonso, and Candelaria González.

 

On Monday, May 4th, the audiovisual presentation “La Crux: Tradition and Roots in Santiago del Teide,” produced by Álvaro Reyes Ávila, will be shown on the town hall's social media channels.
