The Mayor of the Historic Village of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, has submitted a request to Public Health and Ecological Transition of the Government of the Canary Islands to request urgent compliance with the measures aimed at minimizing the suspended dust clouds produced by the current works of the Insular Ring and that derive in a damage to the public health of the population of the helmet of Santiago del Teide; assuming these measures that had already been agreed by plenary on May 27, 2021 and for which a response has not yet been obtained nor has the large amount of suspended dust generated by such works been eradicated.
Thus, the formulation issued by the municipal president to Public Health requests, as a matter of urgency, that the area be inspected and the health impact study that the existence of suspended land may have on health of the inhabitants of the area; While the requirement issued to the Ecological Transition of the Government of the Canary Islands requests, for its part, that the analysis, verification and monitoring of the environmental studies issued in relation to the file of the works of the Tenerife Island Ring be carried out, due to the way in which the that these works are being carried out and the damages that are being caused in the area.
In view of this, the Mayor, Emilio Navarro, assures that “through said requirement we hope that the measures agreed upon by all parties will finally be implemented and that a response will be given to a problem in which, unfortunately, the public health of the / as neighbours, given their continuity in time without witnessing the development of alternative actions for the processing of aggregates that do not threaten the safety of the affected population ”.
