The Gran Canaria national team won the 1st Regional Children's Football Tournament in Santiago del Teide after beating Tenerife 1-0 in the grand final.

The final of this tournament measured the 2 best teams that finished in first place in their respective groups. On the one hand, the western province that was made up of the teams from Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro and, on the other hand, the eastern province made up of the teams from Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuertentura.

In the end, after a solitary goal in the first half, the team from Gran Canaria, coached by former international player Guayre Bentacor, prevailed in a disputed match in which Tenerife deserved something more after wasting countless scoring chances.

Regardless of the result, good football and a good atmosphere reigned throughout the weekend at the Puerto de Santiago football field where all the teams showed fair play and fair play both on and off the pitch.

This victory will allow the team from Gran Canaria to represent the Canary Islands in the national championship of the category.
