Santiago del Teide will become a festival of flavors and talent with the celebration of the 7th Regional Gastronomy Contest of the Canary Islands 2024
The winners will represent the Canary Islands in the National Cooking and Pastry Contest
Next Tuesday, September 17, Santiago del Teide will become the headquarters of gastronomy and talent with the celebration of the 7th Regional Contest of Cooks and Pastry Chefs of the Canary Islands 2024, which will take place at the El Chinyero Visitor Center -located in Santiago del Teide-, starting at 9:00 am. This prestigious event will bring together the best culinary talents in the Canary Islands, where six finalists in the cooking category and another six in the baking category will compete to win the first prize.
This contest is organized by the City Council of the Historical Village of Santiago del Teide and ACYRE Canarias, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce of the Island Council of Tenerife and Tourism of Tenerife.
Regarding the development of the contest, cooking participants must create their recipes using, on the one hand, seasonal tuna and goat meat. The recipes will be free, allowing each cook to demonstrate their creativity and culinary skills. For their part, the pastry chefs will have the challenge of making a dessert with tropical fruits from the island, honey and almonds from Santiago del Teide.
It is worth mentioning that the winners of this contest will obtain the pass to participate in the National Cooking and Pastry Contest, which will take place in Torrelavega (Cantabria), taking our gastronomy to a national stage.
In addition to the contest, this culinary day will feature different workshops, presentations and tastings open to the public, given by important national and international leaders in the field of cuisine and innovation, among whom is our local chef Ronny Reina, from the La Quinta Restaurant, as well as Mario Rodríguez, sommelier from the Pancho Restaurant.
