After complaints from the  neighborhood and the intervention of the mayor,  a series of improvements in the aggregate processing of  works of the insular ring road has been achieved. The Mayor of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro has asked the the Government  responsible for the Canary Islands and the company responsible for the works of the insular ring road that passes through Santiago del Teide to accelerate the implementation of the measures that all parties have approved to solve the problem of airborne dust that is produced with the processing of aggregates in the area and that represents  a public health problem  already for the residents of the town of Santiago del Teide.  In this sense, the Mayor praises the willingness of those in charge of the government and the work to solve these problems but urges to them to accelerate these measures. This week, the Mayor has held telephone conversations with the Director General of Road Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Luis Delgado and meetings with different people in charge of the earthworks of the insular ring road informing of  his concerns and the complaints of the affected neighbors that, also, the City Council has carried out via plenary, especially when in these past days with the  suffocating heat coupled with airborne dust has caused the situation to have become unsustainable.  Therefore, these conversations and meetings in recent days have had a satisfactory result and a series of improvements that are the following:  1- The crushing and screening area has been moved to a deeper part of the execution of the works and, right there, you will implement a nebulization system that will block most of the this problem of airborne dust.  2- In addition, another nebulization system has been implemented in the plant where the concrete is made, which is where most  of the dust that is so annoying for the residents of the area.  The Mayor, Emilio Navarro also points out that "apart from this the  company in charge of these works said that if these  measures were not sufficient or did not meet expectations for largely solve the problem, others will be adopted to guarantee the safety of the residents. In addition, it has been said that people who have had or are having problems in your homes derived from this situation, prepare a list of those deficiencies so that the contract is sent to its experts and corroborate the same and proceed to solve them since in the City Council we have received complaints from local residents not only about airborne dust but because of other structural problems in their homes.  We are satisfied with the measures approved by all parties but what we request is that they be carried out as soon as possible to avoid more problems to local residents so we will be pending the execution of said measures"
