Santiago del Teide will participate in the second call of the ECO-TUR project
Ecotourism and active tourism are increasingly taking root in the sector, they are growing, and projects like this prove it. Santiago del Teide will participate again in ECO-TUR 2, the project called Network of Municipalities for the implementation of the transnational ecotourism strategy through the creation of thematic ecotourism products.
This initiative has as its main objective to implement the transnational strategy of ecotourism through the optimisation and structuring of the ecotourism offer, and the improvement of conservation actions and awareness of the natural and cultural heritage of the cooperation space. The municipalities of the ECO-TUR 2 Network will jointly develop a strategy for the creation of new Thematic Ecotourism products - P.E.T.
The partners of this project, framed in axis 4 and the 6C investment priority of the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF), 85% co-financed by these funds, are the City Councils of Mogán, Teguise, Granadilla de Abona, Los Llanos de Aridane, Guía de Isora, Vallehermoso, Association for Rural Development of the Municipal of Sao Roque de Pico, and 2 participants from third countries, National Association of Municipalities of Cape Verde (ANMCV) and the Municipal Chamber of Porto Novo.
With the participation of our municipality in this second European project we are consolidating the municipality within a European circuit in the figure of partner, whose objective is to allow the cooperation and growth of all the members who participate in each of them. This participation entails growth in employment, economic activity and social maturity to our community.
With the development of the proposed ecotourism strategy we will be able to generate new tourism products and consolidate the P.E.T (Thematic Ecotourism Products) previously developed in the Eco-Tur project, this will serve to consolidate Santiago del Teide within the most competitive tourist destinations.
The objectives of the project are:
- Planning, optimisation and structuring of the ecotourism offer through the creation of "Thematic Ecotourism Products - P.E.T.".
- Develop actions for the preservation and conservation of natural and cultural heritage in the field of "Thematic ecotourism products-P.E.T. Designed.
- Diversification of the tourist offer of the participating municipalities with the development and implementation of new Thematic Ecotourism Products P.E.T.
