The Santiago del Teide City Council has launched the II edition of the children's literary contest entitled "Discounted Tales", with which it is intended to sensitize the population on the need to show a more just and egalitarian society, which serves as a reference to prevent situations of violence against women and sexist attitudes. Thus, all those students who are studying, in this school year, the third cycle of Primary Education -5th and 6th year-, as well as the first and second cycle of Secondary Education in the public centers of the municipality, will be able to participate. The theme of the aforementioned contest will be to transform classic tales into egalitarian tales. For this, the classic stories will be used, transforming them into others where gender stereotypes are dismantled and a non-sexist message is given. If we look at the mode of presentation of the works, the participating stories will be written in Spanish and must be based on one of the classic stories, must be identified with a title and may not exceed 2 pages -written on one side- in the case of Primary Education students and 3 pages - written, in the same way, on one side - for students in Secondary Education. Regarding the deadline for the delivery of works, this will be until November 12 of this year, and must be presented through the director or representative of the Educational Center to which it belongs, at the General Registry office of the consistory before the end of the term; highlighting that the works of the same educational course must be presented in a sealed envelope, where it will be noted on the outside "II Contest of Discounted Tales", as well as the name of the educational center and the course, although each of the stories must bear , in the same way, the personal data of the students associated with the corresponding folio. The prizes to be awarded will be in kind and the stipulated value will be € 1,000.00, with 3 prizes for each of the 3 winners in each of the categories. Regarding the evaluation criteria, it is worth mentioning that the jury will carry out an assessment of the participating stories, in such a way that a maximum of 10 points will be awarded, taking into account the following criteria: Suitability to the theme of the contest (2 points).  Literary and expressive quality (2 points).
