Santiago del Teide hosts the V edition of the program to rescue traditions around death “Postigos de Embrujo”
It will take place in the municipality from October 31 to November 2
The Santiago del Teide City Council has presented the cultural program "Postigos de Embrujo", which on this occasion will take place from October 31 to November 2, with an extensive program of activities with which the council seeks to recover, protect and disseminate old traditions around the celebration of the Day of the Dead in the municipality, the Canary Islands and in other cultures around the world.
Regarding the origin of the cultural project “Postigos de Embrujo”, which on this occasion celebrates its V edition, it is established as an activity of an ethnographic nature and to promote knowledge about the uses and customs that are part of the cultural heritage of the islands and of the municipality.
In this new edition, the chosen theme will be linked to the customs around death that are part of Nepali culture.
In this sense, this program will begin this Thursday, October 31, and will do so with the celebration of our famous “Ruta de las Pelujas”, which will have 4 passes and a circular route departing from the public square towards the Camino Real , Casona del Patio and different scenarios.
On Friday, November 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., two children's workshops will be held in the central courtyard of the town hall under the title “Cow Children-Traditional Headdresses” and a workshop “Taha Macha-Banner Offerings.” ”. In the afternoon, specifically, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the “Ornamental Elements Workshop” will take place. Finally, starting at 7:00 p.m., the thematic show “Offering to the Dead in Nepali Culture” will take place, which will feature music, stories, and explanation of the elements and meanings.
Finally, on Saturday, November 2 and, as usual in the different municipal cemeteries, a music recital will be held in memory of the deceased by the group "Stgo. Quintet Brass."
