More than 500 people enjoyed the XXXV edition of the senior excursion visiting Arona
It was held last Saturday, April 20 and was an organisational success
Last Saturday, April 20, the XXXV edition of the Santiago del Teide senior excursion was held in which more than 500 people visited the municipality of Arona.
First, the excursion began its tour by making the first stop for breakfast in the magnificent facilities of the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife. From there he moved to the town of Arona where our elders could walk and get to know a little more about the historic centre of that town (City Hall, Plaza de La Paz, Centro de Mayores, Church of San Antonio Abad and Casa de la Bodega, where the Association of Roseteras and Caladoras "Tomasita" showed the work of the Rosetas.
The group was received by Mayor Fátima Lemes accompanied by different members of her government group who entertained our elders outside the church of San Antonio Abad with folkloric performances and delivery of details to the different associations of seniors in the municipality and to the city hall itself.
For his part, Mayor Emilio Navarro delivered on behalf of the town of Santiago del Teide some gifts to the town of Arona for their kindness and cooperation in this edition of the excursion that his mayor picked up. Next, the mayor accompanied by his namesake made a floral offering to the Virgin of the Rosary.
After the visit, the group moved to the facilities of the Xanadú restaurant within the same municipality of Arona where the lunch was held that was visited by the counsellor of Social Action of the Cabildo Águeda Fumero. In addition, gifts were raffled and a dance was developed with our Maraury orchestra in which our elders did not hesitate to participate, unleashing their desire to dance and have a good time.
Finally, the group moved to Candelaria for a brief visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria, Patron Saint of the Canary Islands and later return to the point of origin.
