The December data with 530 claimants reflects the best figure in the last 10 years

Santiago del Teide is close to full employment after the magnificent data obtained last December in which only 530 people are registered with the INEM, which is the best statistical data in the last 10 years. Moreover, it would be necessary to going back many years to find such a low percentage of unemployment, although the data achieved in this December 2022 is even better because it must be taken into account that the municipal census today is very different from that of yesteryear.

In this sense, the data indicates that in December 2021 the number of unemployed in the municipality was 643 and just one year later the number of unemployed people is 530, that is, 113 fewer people.

The constant improvement in the labor market in the municipality means that, in just 24 months, unemployment has been reduced by almost 627 people. Due to the destruction of employment caused by the post-pandemic economic slowdown, Santiago del Teide had closed 2020 with 1,157 residents without work, but in December 2022 the number of registered on the unemployment lists had already been reduced to 530 people in total.

The municipality now has even more active population with work than before the arrival of the covid. Today it has 122 fewer unemployed than in December 2019, when 652 unemployed people were registered.

The figure is more valuable if the population increase in recent years and the economic obstacles that have occurred after the pandemic are taken into account: energy crisis due to the war in Ukraine, problems in the logistics chain of the international market and high inflation, among Many others.

For Emilio Navarro "this data is a clear example of the correct employment policies that we are carrying out and that produce greater economic dynamism through investments that are having a positive impact on employment, such as subsidies to support the start-up progress and activity of business projects, subsidies to the primary sector that farmers, fishermen, winegrowers, etc. take advantage of, and economic contributions to the different employment plans.

Our idea is to continue working in the same line of allocating public investments to projects that generate economic activity in the municipality, and also betting on training that allows these applicants to acquire the necessary knowledge so that they have greater opportunities to access the world of work.
